PYKKA – TOURNAMENTS (Competitions)

  1. The SAI has released an amount of Rs.95,25,000/- (Rupees Ninety five lakhs twenty five thousand only) being the 50% of grant-in-aid for conduct of lower level competitions in Andhra Pradesh State under Rural / PYKKA Scheme.
  2. The Andhra Pradesh State has identified 10 disciplines out of 20 disciplines selected by SAI for conduct of National Level Tournaments. SAAP has conducted State level Rural / PYKKA Sports Group – I in the identified 3 disciplines of Athletics, Taekwondo & Weightlifting at DSA, Krishna from 15th to 17th November, 2009, conducted Coaching Camp to the State teams. The Andhra Pradesh state team has participated in the Nationals at Chennai from 21st to 24th November, 2009. The SAAP has to conduct the state level Tournament and Coaching Camp in the identified discipline of Football to participate in the National Level Tournament Group-II at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from 10th to 13th January, 2010. The identified disciplines of Archery, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Boxing to participate in the National Level Tournament Group-III at Anandpur Saheb, Punjab from 17th to 20th January, 2010 and the identified discipline of Hockey to participate in the National Level Tournament Group-IV at Bangalore, Karnataka from 28th to 31st January, 2010.

    In the concluded National Level Group-I Tournament at Chennai the Andhra Pradesh State has got 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze Medal in Taekwondo, overall Championship Boys & Girls in Weightlifting, 1 Silver Medal in 800 Mtrs Men, Bronze Medal in 4 x 100 Mts Relay Women in Athletics.


  3. Kridashree Training Programme under PYKKA :

    From all over India Coaches were selected for the Training of Master Trainers at LNUPE Gwalior, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh have sent 62 Coaches for Master Trainers Training. The main aim of the course is to attract people towards playfield, to create basic sporting infrastructure in the villages to provide adequate training for Kreedasrees in the State and to increase sports awareness.
